With the Kansas City Chiefs all set to try and repeat as Super Bowl champions, there are multiple players who may not be in this kind of a position again.
Life sure is good for the Kansas City Chiefs. After taking down the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game, the team is one win away from repeating as Super Bowl champions. As exciting as that is, everyone knows not every player will be back next season ready to help Kansas City get back to the Super Bowl for a third year in a row.
With that being said, which players likely won’t have another good shot of winning a Super Bowl following this season? We take a look in this piece.
3. Le’Veon Bell, RB
In October, running back Le’Veon Bell was released by the New York Jets and then signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Bell’s addition stole headlines everywhere, as Kansas City’s offense somehow was able to get even stronger.
With that being said, Bell will be a one-and-done player with the Chiefs. He’ll be looking for a more lucrative contract after this season and the Kansas City front office won’t be in a position to pay him big bucks. When the former Steeler/Jet signed his deal with the Chiefs, it was looked at as an opportunity for Bell to remind folks of how good he can be with the ball in his hands.
In nine game this year for Kansas City, Bell has carried the ball 63 times for 254 yards (four yards per carry) and two touchdowns. When Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with his hip/ankle injury, Bell stepped in and saw more work getting the ball from Patrick Mahomes.
Looking forward, however, Edwards-Helaire is the feature back for this team and Bell is going to want to head somewhere where he can be a No. 1 option for an offense. Because of that, this very well may be his best chance to get himself a Super Bowl ring.
