Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski star in a hilarious ad from T-Mobile that was banned from airing during the Super Bowl.
One of the funniest Super Bowl ads of the year is also one you won’t see during the broadcast on Sunday.
That’s good news for Patriots fans, who may want to look away. The rest of you, enjoy this masterpiece featuring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski:
How might the 2020 NFL season have played out if Brady had decided to retire? We certainly wouldn’t be getting ready to watch the spectacle of a QB matchup between Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
Tom Brady and Gronk teamed up with the Bucs and T-Mobile
According to T-Mobile, the ad was actually rejected by the powers that be because Verizon has a protected rights deal as the “official telco sponsor” of the big game.
That isn’t stopping two additional T-Mobile ads from airing on Super Bowl Sunday. This one was just particularly harsh on T-Mobile’s competitors, apparently.
It’s also harsh on Patriots fans who may still love Brady and Gronk but undoubtedly are having mixed emotions about their pursuit of a Super Bowl in the wrong colors. Gone are the days when New England got to reap the benefits of having Brady leading their franchise.
Brady left the Patriots to join the Bucs instead of retiring after a season of flagging production in 2019. It turned out to be the right decision as he landed with the Bucs and produced another great season despite his age. Having thrown 40 touchdowns in the regular season, he looks far away from stepping away from the game now.
Gronkowski was properly retired for the entirety of the 2019 season until Brady came calling. He’s played in every game thus far with 45 catches for 623 yards and seven touchdowns. Clearly, things have worked out for him just fine as well.
Brady, Gronkowski and the Bucs will take on the Chiefs in Tampa on Sunday.
