Despite not having their first two picks, the Houston Texans still could come away with a nice haul.
Houston, you might have a problem.
It would be one thing if the Texans were only dealing with the Deshaun Watson news, but there’s also the fact they’ll be limited in the draft. Due to the Laremy Tunsil deal back in 2019, Houston is without their first and second-round picks.
Naturally, the Texans aren’t inclined to trade Watson. Why would they be? He’s a top-five quarterback who has all the tools to bring a title to the city of Houston. However, things need to change quickly for that ship to remain heading to a positive destination.
David Culley and Nick Caserio will have their jobs cut out for them in 2021. Things could be easier with a draft haul such as this to fix the offense and keep Watson happy.
Houston Texans 7-Round Mock Draft
67.
Dyami Brown
WR North Carolina
The Texans could try to bring back Will Fuller in 2021 at the right price. Is the speedy receiver going to receive top dollar on the open market? He could have in a career year, but instead missed the final five games due to a PED suspension.
Houston has to make it worth it for Watson to return. Therefore, adding weapons will be key in convincing him to stay. No matter what though, pass-catcher will be the biggest need for whoever lines up under center.
If you look back at the North Carolina offense, the two running backs weren’t the only stars in the making for the Tar Heels. Sam Howell had a pair of top targets, Brown being the better vertical threat. In his final two seasons at Chapel Hill, the 6-foot-1 receiver tallied back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns and averaged more than 20 yards per reception.
Houston needs a home run hitter that can extend plays deep. Brown fits well in the slot on the outside, allowing his speed to do most of the talking. Even with Fuller, Brown would be a huge upgrade to the deep passing attack in Houston.
