Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
After contracting COVID-19 Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is staying away from the team facility.
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, “A team spokesman would not confirm the specific case, but did say members of the coaching and personnel staffs were sent home last week after a couple of positives came up.”
Tomlin’s Steelers are coming off a 12-4 season and an AFC North crown but fell at home to the division rival Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card round in early January 2021.
2021 is a critical offseason for the Steelers franchise
Tomlin may have the best job security in the NFL, but it has been over a decade since his Steelers even got to a Super Bowl. They are going year-by-year with aging starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, hoping he takes a pay cut ahead of 2021. While the Steelers have a great defense, their offensive inconsistencies are why they will not reach the big game in Los Angeles in 2022.
2021 free agency is right around the corner and so is the 2021 NFL Draft. With the clock ticking on Roethlisberger’s career and no clear succession plan at quarterback, the Steelers are 100 percent in win-now mode.
