After Aaron Rodgers thanked Jodie Foster in his NFL MVP speech, the actress returned the favor in her Golden Globes acceptance speech.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers gained plenty of attention in the entertainment world during his NFL MVP award acceptance speech. Rodgers not only thanked his fiancee Shailene Woodley, but also fellow actress Jodie Foster. So, it was only fair that the two-time Academy Award-winner returned the favor.
During the 78th edition of the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Foster won for Best Performance by an Actress in Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for her work in the film, The Mauritanian. As she accepted the honor from her home, she sent a thank you to the Packers quarterback!
Foster is a avid Packers fan
During an appearance on The Today Show this past week, Foster was asked about the shoutout from Rodgers, and noted that the two never met each other. But she did bring up that since she is an avid Packers fan, she surmises that players know about it.
The most important thing we can take away from this is that Woodley, Rodgers’ fiancee, co-starred alongside Foster in The Mauritanian. Foster herself said that that connection may have played a role in the shoutout as well.
Last week, Woodley appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and confirmed that she was engaged to Rodgers. There was mystery about whether the couple were set to be married since days prior to Rodgers’ MVP speech, they were confirmed to be dating.
What a newsworthy month for Aaron Rodgers. He wins his third NFL MVP Award, is scheduled to be married to Shailene Woodley and received a shoutout from Jodie Foster. He may have lost in the NFC Championship Game, but he is winning this offseason.
