Cam Jordan didn’t hold back while on ESPN this week, saying the New Orleans Saints would win the Super Bowl if Russell Wilson took over at quarterback.
While the offseason drama between the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson doesn’t seem to be getting better, leave it to New Orleans Saints standout defensive end Cam Jordan to spice things up a bit.
While on ESPN on Tuesday, the veteran pass-rusher didn’t hold back and said that the Saints would win the Super Bowl next season if the team went out and traded for Wilson. While Seattle fans won’t like hearing that, Jordan was passionate in delivering his statement.
Cam Jordan strongly believes Russell Wilson could help the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl
The Seahawks have made it quite clear they don’t want to trade Wilson this offseason, but the Saints were among the four teams the star signal-caller said he’d be open to being traded to should Seattle end up making a move.
Wilson, through his agent, said he’d be willing to be traded to the Saints, Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders and Chicago Bears. Jordan clearly caught wind of this message and is ready to do a little bit of recruiting for his side. Yes, Drew Brees has yet to officially announce his retirement, but all signs are pointing to him hanging up his cleats this offseason.
Come 2021, New Orleans will need a new quarterback to take over the reins. Jameis Winston could be the guy to lead the team offensively, but he surely wouldn’t have the squad ready to compete for a Lombardi Trophy next winter. Wilson most definitely could, though.
Again, it feels like a long shot that the Seahawks will trade Wilson in the coming months. If something does happen, however, look for the Saints to be among the teams ready to do whatever it takes to land him.
