Former Georgia football cornerback Eric Stokes could be pushing to be a first-round pick after an incredible 40-yard dash time.
Georgia football fans have known for a while that cornerback Eric Stokes can ball, but they had no idea he could fly.
Stokes registered an absolutely blistering 4.24 40-yard dash time at the HOA Combine on Friday. This is the third fastest 40 time ever recorded throughout an NFL Draft process. Stokes is projected to be a top-60 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Given his stellar play at Georgia, coupled with his incredible 40-time, Stokes now stands a halfway decent chance of going in the first round.
Eric Stokes could become a third Georgia football player to go in the first round
At this juncture, Georgia could have anywhere between one and three players taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Linebacker Azeez Ojulari is the most likely to go in round one, as the star pass rusher should be coming off the board in the 20s. Cornerback Tyson Campbell could be coming off the in the latter part of the first round. Could Stokes make it three Dawgs in round one?
Stokes said he would be satisfied with a going in the first or second round. However, 40-yard dash times have a funny way of skyrocketing prospects up draft boards. Though there was no NFL Scouting Combine this year, players are still taking part in pro days and other events such as the one Stokes just took a part of. Again, he looks to be a fast climber up several NFL Draft boards.
After running a 4.24 40-yard dash time, Stokes’ stock is rapidly rising.
