Dallas Cowboys fans will like what they are seeing out of running back Ezekiel Elliott in his latest offseason workout video. A more agile Elliott could do wonders to help fix an underperforming Dallas offense.
2020 was a disaster of a season for the Dallas Cowboys, as well as running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Despite lofty expectations, Elliott and the Cowboys came up painfully short a season ago. Dallas went 6-10 under new head coach Mike McCarthy. Elliott had the worst season of his five-year career out of Ohio State. He rushed for 979 yards on 244 carries for six trips to pay dirt in 15 games. His yards-per-game continues to plummet, declining to a career-worst 65.3 for 2020.
Ezekiel Elliott is setting himself up for success with the 2021 Dallas Cowboys.
Though it did not help that starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the first half of the season, Elliott quickly became irrelevant in the backfield of America’s most popular NFL team. COVID-19 was tough on us all last year, but Elliott is doing his part to make sure his 2021 campaign will be a step in the right direction. He is clearly putting in the work.
If Elliott is a bit more nimble than he was a season ago, he should have no issues being able to rush for over 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career. While he may no longer be a 300-carry back in his early 20s, Elliott still has a few more prime years left before he will have to pivot again. A quicker and leaner Elliott could lead to a few more explosive plays in the Cowboys offense.
Look for Elliott to have a bounce-back year in 2021 after a trying 2020 season with the Cowboys.
