These five players could be prime targets for the Giants at No. 11.
The New York Giants had a heartbreaking end to the regular season, falling short of the postseason when the Philadelphia Eagles took a dive in a move that wasn’t popular with the players in the locker room. It is important to remember, however, that the Giants won just six games last season and have a ways to go to be a bona fide playoff contender.
The one benefit of missing the playoffs is that the Giants’ first-round pick is all the way up at no. 11, giving them an opportunity to land a true difference-maker at a position of need. Let’s take a look at five players that New York could target in the first round, beginning with the Heisman Trophy winner.
5. New York Giants first-round draft targets – WR Devonta Smith
This one could require a bit of moving for the Giants since Smith will be highly coveted after winning the Heisman for Alabama. Smith has a chance to be a game-breaking wide receiver from the moment he takes the field in the NFL, something that New York could desperately use.
With Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton showcasing some potential as complementary weapons, adding a true top target would make all the difference for quarterback Daniel Jones. GM Dave Gettleman knows he has to win this year in order to keep his job so a trade-up could be in the cards to bring Smith to the Big Apple.
