Even after signing veteran Tyrod Taylor earlier this week, the Houston Texans are still making moves that seem to be insurance on Deshaun Watson.
Things are not looking good for Deshaun Watson. The lawsuits continue to pile on in what has certainly been a strange past couple of days. In the midst of all of the craziness, the Philadelphia Eagles have emerged as a team that may still be interested in Watson.
As NFL free agency continues to roll on, the Houston Texans seem to be making moves to put themselves in a better position if Watson does not play for them this upcoming season.
On Wednesday, Houston agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $12.5 million with former Los Angeles Charger quarterback Tyrod Taylor. In the event that Watson does not suit up for the Texans this season, Taylor will likely be his replacement.
Now, it seems that the team has added even more insurance to fill out the depth chart.
Texans have traded for former Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley
Though the details have not yet been released, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Houston has traded for former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley.
Finley played in eight and started four games for Cincinnati in the last two years. He was 58-of-119 for 638 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Entering into his third year in the league, Finely was a fourth-round draft pick by the Bengals in 2019.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens as news regarding Watson continues to unfold.
