Even Patrick Mahomes is blown away by surrounding the Dolphins, Eagles, and 49ers trade chaos.
The Miami Dolphins caused absolute chaos Friday towards the NFL draft order, sending the No. 3 pick to the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 12 pick, which they then traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dolphins now are pick No.6 come April 29.
Naturally, nobody has any idea what to make of the trades. Will second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa still be on the hot seat? Are the Eagles entering a rebuild? Who should the 49ers’ draft as their next quarterback?
Of course, everyone has their own opinions. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave his thoughts on the situation as well. Needless to say, he’s just like everyone else who saw the deals go down.
What to make of the all the recent moves?
Miami is building a contender down in South Beach under Brian Flores. Not only did they move down, then back up into the top 10, the Dolphins also received a first- and third-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023 from San Francisco.
Yes, they lost their own first-round pick to the Eagles for next season, but they now are picking back inside the top 10, securing a name they believed wouldn’t be there at No.12.
The Eagles will run it back with Jalen Hurts for another season. Instead of reach on a player, they now have the option to take the “best player available” approach for their roster on new head coach Nick Sirrianni.
The 49ers are trying to remain ahead in the NFC West. Do they feel limited by Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback? If so, selecting either North Dakota State’s Trey Lance or BYU’s Zach Wilson might be the best option.
All three rosters are looking for something. Miami though is the cleat-cut overall winner for 2021 should they continue to build the roster the right way. The only problem is , they’ll have to get past Mahomes in the AFC playoff race.
