Tyler Lockett signed a massive new contract with the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson is fired up for his teammate.
Wednesday’s big news continues to make waves over in Seattle. Out of nowhere, John Schneider and Tyler Lockett agreed to a monster new contract extension, as the speedy wide receiver signed a new four-year deal worth more than $69 million.
The news of the contract traveled fast, with quarterback Russell Wilson of course finding out shortly after it happened. The signal-caller could not be happier for his teammate. He made that much clear with his latest Twitter post.
Russell Wilson let everyone know how happy he is for Tyler Lockett
While nothing but drama has followed Wilson and the Seahawks throughout the offseason, it’s great to see the signal-caller is fired up over this humongous Seattle news. There’s no question Lockett has become a fan-favorite player in recent years.
With his speed, Lockett is capable of burning by defensive backs at any moment. We’ve all seen that time and time again. In 2020, Lockett had a massive campaign catching the pigskin from Wilson. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder posted a career-high 100 receptions, while adding 1,054 yards and 10 touchdowns. In the last three years, Lockett has hauled in 28 touchdowns for the Seahawks.
With that kind of production, it’s not hard to figure out why Schneider and the team wanted to get things done and make sure Lockett will be in town for the long haul. It’s no question sensational news for the team, but also great for Wilson.
One of his favorite targets won’t be going anywhere, with the two hoping to do everything they can to try and get the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl in the near future.
