2021 is a make-or-break year for Drew Lock. Here are five bold predictions regarding the embattled quarterback and his Broncos’ teammates.
The future of Drew Lock continues to dominate the Broncos’ offseason. Barring a major trade or a big move up the draft board in Round 1, Denver is going to give Lock one more season to prove he’s worthy of being considered the team’s starting quarterback of the present and future.
The rest of Vic Fangio’s roster looks primed to make a postseason push. The Broncos face strong competition inside their own division, but the defense, in particular, could emerge as one of the most formidable groups in the NFL. Von Miller’s return from injury should give Denver one of the most ferocious pass rushes in the league.
The question Fangio and his staff need to answer is whether or not they can fix the offense. Lock is the biggest outstanding issue, but the franchise also needs some of their young skill position players to take a meaningful step forward in 2021. The first bold prediction of this piece makes an optimistic call on Denver’s talented tight end.
5. Noah Fant will break 1,000 yards receiving
Fant led the team with 62 catches for 673 yards and three touchdowns last season. That’s quality production from the tight end position, but he’s got the talent to become a legitimate star.
2021 is the season where Fant translates the majority of his potential into actual production. Look for him to push his catch total close to 100 and make even more big plays than he has in previous seasons. That should allow him to top the 1,000-yard receiving mark in a breakout campaign for the young pass-catcher.
