With Justin Fields throwing at Ohio State’s Pro Day, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was on hand to see him do his thing.
Where will Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields land in the upcoming NFL Draft? That’s a question countless fans can’t wait to find out. While he’s been linked with multiple teams, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan added plenty of intrigue to things.
With Fields throwing in a non-televised Pro Day event for the Buckeyes, the San Francisco coach was on hand watching Fields throw the ball around. Could the 49ers end up rocking with Fields, rather than Mac Jones?
Kyle Shanahan checking out Justin Fields at Pro Day sure is interesting
After San Francisco pulled off the blockbuster trade to move up to the No. 3 overall pick, it was made more than clear they want a quarterback of the future with that selection. Jimmy Garoppolo simply isn’t the long-term answer for Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.
Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is a name to watch here too, as San Francisco appears to be quite high on him. Don’t forget about Fields, though. Shanahan is clearly a big fan of him and his athleticism. Fields can hurt opposing defenses with his rocket for a right arm and impressive wheels out on the gridiron.
Being a dual-threat quarterback in today’s NFL really is an added bonus, and we’re seeing more and more mobile guys put up huge numbers across the league. Fields will be ready to put on a show wherever he lands next. Could it end up being San Francisco? Later this month, we’ll have our answer to that question.
