The Lions hired Dan Campbell to completely revamp the roster. Here are five bold predictions for how his first season in Detroit will unfold.
To say the Lions are going to look much different in 2021 compared to the franchise’s 2020 edition would be a massive understatement. Going from Matt Patricia to Dan Campbell as head coach will lead to serious changes. The transition from Matthew Stafford to Jared Goff at the quarterback position will be even more jarring for fans in Detroit.
Stafford isn’t the only big-name departure on the offensive side of the ball. Kenny Golladay bolted in free agency as well. His decision to head to New York leaves the Lions shockingly short of talent at the wide receiver position. Expect Campbell and his coaching staff to put a renewed emphasis on running the football in 2021.
Detroit’s defensive roster also leaves a lot to be desired. The unit continues to look for a top-tier edge rusher to fortify its front seven. Jeff Okudah flashed as a rookie, but his lack of consistency makes him a serious question mark heading into his sophomore season.
The Lions roster is filled with more question marks than answers heading into 2021. Here are five bold predictions for how Detroit will perform this season.
5. Romeo Okwara will get at least 12 sacks
Okwara surprised the Lions with 10 sacks last season and he’s going to prove that campaign wasn’t a fluke. He should just be coming into his playing prime at the age of 25. Detroit isn’t going to be great up front, but Okwara is going to step up and prove he’s ready to be the team’s top pass rusher for the next several seasons.
