Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski spent his offseason by making a world record catch.
NFL players are resting and getting themselves ready for the upcoming season. As for Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski, he is spending his offseason breaking world records.
On Saturday, Gronkowski served as an honorary captain for Arizona’s spring game. On that very day, he attempted to break the world record for “highest altitude catch” of a football ever recorded by hauling in a ball dropped from a helicopter hovering 600 feet above Arizona Stadium.
After dropping the first two attempts, Gronkowski caught the football to officially make the Guinness Book of World Records. And, of course, he celebrated the feat with a “Gronk spike.”

Winning four Super Bowl titles was not enough for Gronkowski; he wanted to make the Guinness Book of World Records. And he did that successfully this weekend.
Last year, Gronkowski came out of retirement to reunite with quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa Bay via a trade from the New England Patriots. In his first year in the Sunshine State, Gronk recorded 45 catches for 623 yards and seven touchdowns through 16 regular-season games. After essentially being a non-factor in the Buccaneers’ first three playoff games, Gronkowski showed up when it mattered most — Super Bowl 55. In the big game, he caught six-of-seven targets from Brady for 67 yards and two touchdowns in Tampa Bay’s 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
At the start of the new league year, Gronkowski re-signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year contract worth up to $10 million.
Gronkowski has had quite the year. He won his fourth Super Bowl ring, became WWE 24/7 champion at WrestleMania 36 last year and is now featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.
