Najee Harris thinks his former Alabama football teammate Mac Jones finds his criticism funny.
While Davey O’Brien winner Mac Jones has been handed more than his fair share of criticism throughout the NFL Draft process, his former Alabama football teammate Najee Harris feels Jones is taking all of it in stride, probably with a smile on his face and laughing the entire time because that is who he is.
Harris said on Good Morning Football that he believes Jones is laughing every time he hears the criticism about his game. It is not like Jones has been critiqued before in his college career. Harris knows that whatever team ends up drafting Jones will be getting a competitor, a hard-working guy and a cerebral player. Jones will be one of five quarterbacks taken in the first round this year.
Harris went to bat for his former Alabama teammate, even though he probably did not need to.
Alabama football: Najee Harris, Mac Jones finds the criticism rather amusing
Together, Harris and Jones helped the Alabama Crimson Tide go 10-0 in SEC play, crush Florida in the SEC Championship and thoroughly dominate Notre Dame and Ohio State en route to a perfect College Football Playoff National Championship season. Even though the 2020 Crimson Tide were chock full of high-end players, there are reasons Jones and even Harris could go in the first round.
Jones is arguably the most pro-ready passer in the draft. He has handled adversity at Alabama backing up Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. His intellect will allow him to have staying power in the league, regardless of wherever he is drafted. As for Harris, he was probably the most impressive running back to play for the Crimson Tide since Derrick Henry. He took home the Doak Walker.
Harris and Jones are smart enough to fully understand that criticism is just part of the game now.
