The 2021 NFL Draft is only a few days away, and with that, we take a look at our final first-round mock draft heading into Thursday night.
The 2021 NFL Draft will officially open on Thursday night, as the league will begin their three-day event with the first round. Commissioner Roger Goodell is vaccinated and ready to give out hugs after a 2020 NFL Draft that saw him reading picks in his basement, and looking like he was ready to fall asleep at times.
With that said, we take a look at our final 2021 NFL Mock Draft.
Trevor Lawrence
QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Our last 2021 NFL Mock Draft will start like our first one did, with Trevor Lawrence being the first overall selection. The Jacksonville Jaguars hold the No.1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and unless something out of this world comes their way, there is no way they are passing on Lawrence here.
Lawrence is considered by many as a generational talent, and the hope is that he can change the fortunes of this Jaguars franchise. Jacksonville is looking for stability, and owner Shad Khan has already said that this pick is going to define the rest of his life.
Zach Wilson
QB, New York Jets
The New York Jets hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and with the selection, they drafted a top-3 quarterback for the second time in the last five drafts. Sam Darnold was traded away to the Carolina Panthers this offseason, leaving a gaping hole at the quarterback spot, and the hope is Wilson can come in and fill it right away.
Wilson has everything you look for in terms of arm talent, but the level of competition he played against has brought some red flags. Still, the Jets fell in love with him during his Pro Day, and there is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be the second signal-caller off the board on Thursday night.
Trey Lance
QB, San Francisco 49ers
For most experts, the 2021 NFL Draft will start at pick No. 3, and that spot currently belongs to Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have a playoff-ready roster already, but also have questions about Jimmy Garoppolo, which is why they traded up to this spot in the first place.
With this selection, the experts feel the choice is down to Trey Lance or Mac Jones, and I believe that based on Shanahan’s offense, Lance should be the pick. This kid is a monster with his arm, and his legs, and while he only played at North Dakota State against Jones’ Alabama, I like his ceiling more than Jones’ at the next level.
