Former NFL receiver Joe Horn was upset with the media for its coverage of his son’s selection Thursday night.
Jaycee Horn received life-changing news Thursday night when he was selected No. 8 overall by the Carolina Panthers. His father, former NFL receiver Joe Horn, ended up having some gripes with how the pick was covered.
An ESPN story shared thoughts from Horn who expressed being upset with the fact the television coverage was focusing on Aaron Rodgers at a time when his son was celebrating the great news of his selection.
Joe Horn did not care to hear about Aaron Rodgers
The news of Rodgers potentially not wanting to return to Green Bay was a major storyline all night Thursday. Adam Schefter dropping the news right before the start of the draft was a smart move on his part.
But it did dominate a good amount of attention and Horn would have preferred if the focus was on his son’s celebration instead of Packers drama.
The younger Horn was the first defender off the board in a draft dominated by quarterback talk.
Networks broadcasting the draft can take a hint from Horn here. The focus should be on the players themselves instead of drama. If Rodgers had been traded, that is one thing, but it ended up being the rumor mill churning at a time when young men deserved the spotlight.
