The Dallas Cowboys have some gaps they can still fill by dipping into the free-agent market now that the dust has settled on the draft.
The NFL Draft may be complete, but there are still plenty of additions teams can make to bolster their rosters for the 2021 season.
For the Dallas Cowboys, that means looking to shore up the defense with some veteran free agents.
Who can Dallas still target to get stronger? There are tons of options out there.
3. Richard Sherman
Even though the Cowboys used a second-round pick to take Kelvin Joseph out of Kentucky, they missed out on their top two cornerback choices, Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain II. The result is a cornerback room without a plug-and-play addition from the draft.
Joseph could develop into a great player, but he’s raw and lacking experience.
The solution? Bring in a veteran cornerback to bolster the unit in the short term. That veteran could be Richard Sherman.
Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn worked with Sherman in Seattle. Quinn knows the player and Sherman knows the defense.
A calf injury has created hesitancy around Sherman, to be fair. Still, he’d bring a great mentality to add to the Cowboys locker room and he’d be able to lead by his example as a hard-working defender.
