An NFL insider senses a potential trade brewing between the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos for NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
While Aaron Rodgers remains the franchise quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, the NFL Network’s James Palmer believes it is a “real possibility” Aaron Rodgers is traded to the Denver Broncos this summer.
Palmer looks at what the Broncos have, or frankly, haven’t done, to address the quarterback position. Denver is in great shape against the cap to take on Rodgers’ contract, as the Broncos aren’t paying Teddy Bridgewater or Drew Lock very much at all. The Broncos have plenty of future draft capital. New general manager George Paton used to work in for the rival Minnesota Vikings.
What are the chances the Broncos end up trading for Rodgers before the stat of the season?
Could the Denver Broncos trade for Aaron Rodgers before the start of 2021?
Denver is one of a few teams Rodgers would reportedly be interested in going to. The Broncos have a talented roster that is being held back by sub-par quarterback play. Because they play in the opposite conference, it would certainly make things easier for the Packers to potentially part ways with their talented, but perpetually frustrated superstar quarterback. So it could happen.
However, moving a player of Rodgers’ magnitude will not be easy. Paton and the Denver front office would have to be the aggressors to potentially pull this off. If Rodgers were to go to the Broncos, they could challenge the Kansas City Chiefs right away in the deep AFC West division. As for Green Bay, the Packers would fall out of the NFC playoff picture entirely and begin rebuilding.
If Rodgers is traded this offseason, the likeliest landing spot for him would have to be the Broncos.
