Patrick Mahomes and Luka Doncic shared a big hug after the Chiefs quarterback watched the Mavericks beat the Clippers to take a 2-0 series lead over the Clippers on Tuesday night.
There may not be two bigger young stars in sports than Patrick Mahomes and Luka Doncic right now. They were both in the same building on Tuesday night when the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was in attendance to see Doncic lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 127-121 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
The win was a triumphant one for Doncic who leads the Mavericks in points, rebounds and assists after the first two postseason games.
Doncic finished with 39 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to give the Mavericks a commanding 2-0 lead as the series now heads to Dallas for the next two games.
Doncic put on a show for Mahomes and for Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki who was also in attendance. There was plenty of love shown Doncic’s way before, during and after the game.

Have to wonder if Doncic was asking Mahomes about how his foot is feeling after offseason surgery. They probably didn’t talk about that. But Mahomes is reportedly ahead of schedule in his rehab from the surgery he had following the loss in the Super Bowl and is expected to do some things at Chiefs OTAs.
While Mahomes is the face of the NFL or at least one of them, Doncic is in the same company when it comes to the NBA, even with the presence of LeBron James and Stephen Curry, among others.
Unlike Mahomes, Doncic is still chasing his first championship. A first-round upset over the top-seeded Clippers may not result in a championship, but it’s the next big step in the evolution of Doncic becoming the best player in the NBA who annually competes for an NBA title.
