Jalen Ramsey will be wearing a totally new jersey number for the 2021 Los Angeles Rams.
After wearing the No. 20 jersey throughout his five-year NFL career, All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey will be rocking a new digit for the Los Angeles Rams this season.
Ramsey was seen wearing the No. 5 during Rams spring practice. He had wore No. 20 during his first year-and-a-half in Los Angeles, as well as during his three-and-a-half year run with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ramsey had worn the No. 8 jersey during his college days with Florida State and the No. 7 jersey when he played in high school for Brentwood Academy in his native Nashville.
Even if he has never worn No. 5 before, Ramsey does look clean in his new Rams jersey number.
Jalen Ramsey to wear a new jersey number with the Los Angeles Rams
Though Ramsey is one of the best and most popular players on the Rams, he could theoretically afford to buy out the remaining NFL inventory of his former No. 20 jersey. Ramsey is a former top-five pick out of Florida State, so him paying a premium to get a new number he likes is not a big deal. What we do not know is the significance of the No. 5 jersey. It has to mean something, right?
As long as Ramsey plays up to his Pro Bowl level, the Rams can seriously contend for another Super Bowl berth. Los Angeles is coming off a playoff victory over the division rival Seattle Seahawks before bowing out to the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau during the divisional round. If the Rams are to represent the NFC, then Ramsey has to be among the best players in the league.
Look for many Rams fans to buy up Ramsey’s new No. 5 jersey in the coming weeks and months.
