Packers reportedly eyeing record-breaking extension for Davante Adams

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Green Bay Packers are looking at signing star wide receiver Davante Adams to a massive contract extension.

While all the news and focus is on Aaron Rodgers and whether or not he’ll return to the team next season, there’s also some other big business the Packers need to focus on. We’re of course talking about Davante Adams, arguably the best wide receiver in the game.

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Green Bay is making a massive extension for the speedy wideout a priority. Not only that, the Packers are looking to make history and make Adams the highest-paid receiver in the game.

The Green Bay Packers are hoping to sign Davante Adams to a big-time extension

“Davante Adams and the Packers are expected to try to come to an agreement on a massive contract extension,” Fowler said via Bleacher Report. “He will likely be the highest-paid receiver in the league at some point. Most evaluators I talk to believe he is the very best at that position right now. So, he’s a priority for the Packers, whether Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback or Jordan Love.”

Fowler went on to note that the big issue in getting an Adams-Packers deal done this summer is that Rodgers’ contract really prevents the team from getting things over the finish line. Adams is about to enter the final year of his current contract, however, so Green Bay can’t afford to let him sign elsewhere as a free agent come next offseason.

Time and time again, Adams puts on a show on the gridiron. Is there anyone better at running routes and making defensive backs look foolish on a consistent basis? Heck no. The Green Bay front office knows this. Let’s see if Brian Gutekunst can work some magic and make Adams happy. No one will argue he’ll be worth every penny.
