The Giants’ biggest signing of the offseason, Kenny Golladay, limped off the practice field today, leaving fans holding their breath awaiting answers.
Giants fans, players, and coaches alike will be keeping their fingers crossed.
Wide receiver Kenny Golladay left practice today with an apparent hamstring injury. After making a catch in team drills, linebacker Tae Crowder ripped the ball away from Golladay, which was followed by Golladay limping and grabbing the back of his leg. He went into the team facility shortly after with one of the Giants’ trainers.
Golladay signed with the Giants this off-season after an injury-riddled 2020 season in Detroit. It seems the injury bug followed him to the Big Apple from the Motor City.
Kenny Golladay was the Giants’ big off-season acquisition
The Giants have really geared up offensively throughout the off-season, and Golladay was the biggest signing for them in terms of getting more weapons for Daniel Jones.
In a lot of ways, this is a make-or-break year for Jones. New York’s defense emerged as one of the best in the NFL last season, but several offensive injuries left the G-Men shorthanded and on the outside looking in when the playoffs came around.
Signing Kenny Golladay was supposed to give Jones and the Giants offense an unquestioned No. 1 receiver to give their offense more life. If the hamstring injury turns out to be severe, that could have large ramifications for New York.
What’s next for the Giants?
If Golladay does miss any time, guys like Sterling Sheppard, John Ross, and first round pick Kadarius Toney will get a larger number of targets. The Giants have no shortage of weapons, but losing Golladay for any length of time would be a blow to the offense nonetheless.
