Trade talks between the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles concerning quarterback Deshaun Watson are reportedly heating up.
The future of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is still very much up in the air as training camps around the league are already underway.
It’s still anyone’s guess where Watson will play football this season, but some new rumors point to Philadephia.
According to Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, “talks are heating up” between the Eagles and Texans.”
“Still some hurdles to get over,” Trapasso tweeted. “But both sides attempting to come to an agreement.”
Deshaun Watson trade rumors concerning the Eagles are gaining traction
This one is interesting on multiple fronts.
The Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Colts in a move that suggested they’re all on in Jalen Hurts. They also have Joe Flacco and Nick Mullens on the roster.
Is it possible they’re not totally sold on Hurts and would rather go out and get Watson to settle all their questions at QB?
Of course, the situation with Watson isn’t cut and dry. He’s facing a slew of lawsuits from massage therapists alleging sexual assault during their sessions with him.
Those allegations have hovered over any potential trade talks.
At first, it appeared the Texans would resist Watson’s push to be traded away. He requested a trade because of his frustration with the franchise and doesn’t appear likely to play for the team this year.
Now, if they’re willing to part ways, they may struggle to get a deal done considering the unresolved allegations against him. While the NFL hasn’t taken action against him, any team who completes a trade bringing him in runs the risk of their new quarterback being suspended eventually.
Watson is attending Texans training camp, but he has yet to practice with the team while dealing with injuries.
