Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was seen at Chicago Bears training camp wearing team gear.
Doug Pederson may no longer lead the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has no problem repping Chicago Bears gear during their training camp.
Pederson was fired by the Eagles after five seasons at the helm. He led Philadelphia to its only Super Bowl victory in franchise history during his second year with the team in 2017. While he did not get another head-coaching gig this offseason cycle, he had been a finalist for the New York Jets job that went to Robert Saleh. For now, he is spending time alongside Matt Nagy in Chicago.
So what does this all mean for Bears fans and the future of Pederson’s coaching profession?

Look. Pederson is going to be an NFL head coach again in 2022. Taking a year off will inevitably serve him, as he can recalibrate and adjust to what did not work for him in the latter years of his Philadelphia tenure. All the while, it makes a ton of sense for him to help out at Bears training camp for guy he used to work with on Andy Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs in Nagy.
What is interesting is Nagy could be one of the eight or so head coaches who could get the ax this offseason. Chicago may have made the playoffs last year, but offensive issues have largely held this team back. Given that this is Nagy’s area of strength, this could be a problem. One would think Pederson will be one of the top three candidates entering the next offseason hiring cycle in 2022.
You have to admit, Pederson looks right at home in Bears gear, while rocking his patented visor.
