Pittsburgh Steelers fans had to love what they saw from rookie Najee Harris on his first run in the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers had one of the worst running attacks in the league last season. So, the team allowed James Conner to leave in free agency, and drafted his replacement in Alabama’s Najee Harris with their first-round selection in the NFL Draft.
Steelers fans officially received their first look at the rookie during Thursday night’s Hall of Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys. Harris took the carry on second down-and-three and rushed for six yards to get the first down.
The Steelers are banking on Harris to ease the pressure off veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. While it is just the first official preseason game in the NFL, Harris gave the fanbase a sneak peek prior to the 2021 campaign.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris leads revamped rushing attack
Harris is the lead back on what was arguably the worst rushing attack in the NFL last season. That’s odd to say about a team like Pittsburgh, which is historically renowned for their ability to run the football.
Najee is a great all-around back the Steelers can use on every down. Assuming he makes a solid transition to the next level, he could be the next great running back in the Steel City.
