Patrick Mahomes trolled his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Gehrig Dieter after his beloved New York Yankees fell to the Chicago White Sox at the Field of Dreams on Thursday night.
The Field of Dreams game was a nightmare for noted New York Yankees fan/Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, so naturally, Patrick Mahomes decided to pile on in his misery.
With a given game like that, you better believe Dieter is a diehard fan of the Bronx Bombers. While he should consider himself the luckiest man on the face of the earth to have Mahomes as his NFL teammate, it was only fitting that the Chicago White Sox ended the Field of Dreams game with a big fly into some Iowa corn. Dieter said the game was rigged, but Mahomes simply does not care.
If you tweet it, he will troll.
Patrick Mahomes trolls Gehrig Dieter after Yankees lost Field of Dreams game
Mahomes is a massive fan of baseball to begin with. His namesake father pitched in the big leagues for over a decade, most notably with the Minnesota Twins and the New York Mets. Mahomes played a little bit of college baseball at Texas Tech as a freshman before committing to football full-time. He is also a minority owner of the AL Central’s Kansas City Royals these days.
Given how instrumental the 1919 White Sox were to the novel Shoeless Joe and the iconic Kevin Costner movie that followed, it was a script made for Hollywood to see the White Sox win in a walk-off at the Field of Dreams. Yankees may have hated it, but this is starting to feel like one of those special years for the South Siders. Maybe it will be another special one for the Chiefs, too?
The Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers in their preseason opener on Saturday night.
