Steelers fans beg Najee Harris not to hurdle in preseason games

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris tried to hurdle an Eagles defender in the team’s second preseason game. He only knows one speed.

Harris is trying to make an early impression in Pittsburgh, and while fans surely appreciate him giving full effort in rather meaningless effort, they’d rather he be available come Week 1, also.

It’s the biggest predicament for rookies in preseason games, as in college they’re not used to playing at different speeds. This is even more true for Harris, who played under Nick Saban at Alabama.

in Thursday’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Harris proved he’s been watching a little too much Olympic hurdles action.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris should save those hurdles for the regular season

As excited as Harris makes Steelers fans, they’re right to encourage caution early on. Playing behind arguably the worst offensive line in the AFC North will prove enough of a challenge for a rookie. Doing so on an injured leg because he tried to hurdle an Eagle in the preseason is even tougher.

Good luck asking Harris to relax. If anyone will enjoy seeing the example Harris is setting for the rest of the offense, it’s Mike Tomlin, who preaches consistency more than anyone.
