The team to win the NFC North each of the past two seasons has a very talented roster. Who could be out when it comes to the Green Bay Packers?
Head coach Matt LaFleur has been consistent in two years at the helm of the Packers. Green Bay has won a pair of division titles and reached the NFC title game both times. But it still hasn’t added up to a Super Bowl appearance, something the club hasn’t managed since 2010.
It’s been an interesting offseason for the club. But 2020 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and so are hopes for a 14th NFL title. The team is certainly loaded with talent and it’s a roster particularly deep in several areas.
So here’s a look at a few players who could be exiting “Titletown” sooner than later. And you may notice that two of these three performers were members of the franchise’s draft class of 2018. That was year one of the Brian Gutekunst Era as general manager.
3. LB Oren Burks
He comes off a solid night in the club’s home preseason loss to the Texans. Linebacker Oren Burks finished the evening with six stops (4 solo) and a sack. That’s pretty interesting that in three seasons and 42 regular-season contests, he has yet to come up with a quarterback trap.
During his rookie season, linebacker Oren Burks played in 14 games and made four starts. He finished with 16 defensive stops and eight on special teams. He hasn’t made a start since. In 2019, there were six tackles on special teams and five on the kick coverage units.
This past year, there were 16 outings, 11 defensive stops and 10 on special teams. It’s been a disappointing showing to date for the three-year pro from the University of Vanderbilt.
