Mike Zimmer criticizes Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings passing offense at the podium.
To say things have been better between Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and the team’s starting quarterback Kirk Cousins would be a massive understatement.
Zimmer has expressed his frustrations about some players on his team not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Cousins has not only missed time due to COVID-19 protocols because he is unvaccinated, but he said he would rather sit in a team meeting inside of a plexiglass cube than get the shot. So it comes as no surprise when Zimmer dubbed Captain Kirk as Captain Checkdown at the podium.
If the Vikings do not qualify for the NFL playoffs this season, jobs will be lost all across the board.
Minnesota Vikings HC Mike Zimmer torches QB Kick Cousins at the podium
In the midst of a pressure-packed season, the Vikings are on the verge of crumbling. They have looked varying shades of terrible in their two preseason games. Minnesota has surprisingly been one of the noisiest teams in football this offseason, which is so out of character for them. As teams are preparing for the season, the Vikings are still trying to get their players vaccinated.
Overall, the Vikings have the on-field talent to be a top-seven team in the NFC this year. However, they keep coming up short at every key checkpoint in the offseason. For them to make the playoffs, and maybe even with the NFC North, Cousins has to play well at quarterback and Zimmer has to put his players in the best position to succeed. Pettiness and checkdowns will not cut it.
The Vikings are giving us every reason to short them heading into the 2021 NFL regular season.
