The New York Jets tied their preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on a clutch Hail Mary pass from quarterback James Morgan.
The New York Jets have not had the greatest of training camps in 2021.
They lost star pass rusher Carl Lawson to a season-ending Achilles injury and left tackle Mekhi Becton is currently in the league’s concussion protocol. With the regular-season on the horizon, the Jets ended their preseason on a high-note.
With the Jets trailing the Philadelphia Eagles by the score of 31-23 in the waning seconds of the game, quarterback James Morgan rolled outside of the pocket and uncorked a Hail Mary pass into the crowded end zone. Unlike other Hail Mary’s, this pass hit New York tight end Kenny Yeboah right in the hands for the touchdown.
After being successful on the two-point conversion, the Jets walked off the field with a 31-31 tie.
Jets end preseason on clutch Hail Mary touchdown pass from James Morgan
Of course, there is no overtime in the NFL preseason as of this year. Hence why the game ended in a tie. Come on, why would a team risk injury by playing extra regulation football just over a week away from the start of the regular-season?
Morgan finished the night completing 13-of-23 pass attempts for 158 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. As for Yeboah, he tallied four catches 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five targets. Quite the game for the duo.
With the preseason now officially over, the Jets will now prepare for their season opening game against the Carolina Panthers, led by former quarterback Sam Darnold in what could be the ultimate revenge game.
