Saints place Michael Thomas on PUP list

The offseason issues for Michael Thomas have continued on Tuesday, as it was announced that he’s officially been placed on the PUP list.

New Orleans Saints fans are going to have to wait a little longer than expected to see Michael Thomas back out on the field making his usual brilliant plays for the offense. Matter of fact, they’re going to have to wait a little while.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Thomas has been placed on the PUP list. Obviously, this is a big-time blow for New Orleans and Sean Payton.

The New Orleans Saints will be without Michael Thomas to start the regular season

With the Saints having a BYE early in the season, this means that Thomas may only end up missing five games for New Orleans. Despite that, missing him for so much time to start the campaign won’t be good for new starter Jameis Winston.

Winston just earned the starting job over Taysom Hill, which is awesome to see for the former first-round pick. However, when healthy, Thomas is no doubt one of the more electric wideouts in the game. He changes things completely for the Saints.

Thomas underwent offseason foot surgery, and he also has had pretty public beef going on with the New Orleans front office as well. While some trade rumors surfaced, Thomas made it quite clear he has no issues with his teammates and wanted to continue playing with them.

Now, though, Thomas is going to have to keep rehabbing his foot and hope to get back on the field once he’s eligible to come off the PUP list. New Orleans is hoping that can come after Week 6, but we’ll have to see how his foot is feeling around then.
