The defending AFC champions already have a stocked roster. But Andy Reid’s club might benefit from three more veteran additions.

Andy Reid has never suffered through a losing season in eight years in Kansas City. The Chiefs currently own the league’s longest postseason run (6 years) and the franchise has captured five straight AFC West titles. Led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the club has been to back-to-back Super Bowls, winning LIV and losing LV.

Reid and general manager Brett Veach have built a solid squad. But that doesn’t mean they couldn’t add a little more veteran talent. Here are three performers that remain on the open market that could aid the team’s cause at reaching a third straight Super Bowl.

Why not add a little more oomph to the pass rush? The Chiefs have one of the best defensive lineman in the league in Chris Jones. Kansas City’s defensive front also features Derrick Nnadi. This offseason, the club added interior presence Jarran Reed – late of the Seahawks.

Defensive ends Frank Clark and Alex Okafor return as well. But this was a club that managed a disappointing 32 sacks in 2020. Trent Murphy has played six NFL seasons with Washington and Buffalo and totaled 26 sacks and 10 forced fumbles. But he disappointed in 2020 with the Bills. Could he get his career back in track with the Chiefs?
