A fan slid into the Panthers DMs asking how many retweets for tickets to the season opener against the Jets and Twitter came through for him.
Retweets can get you a lot of things these days. Nugs? Check. Tickets to an NFL game? Check.
Over the weekend, one Carolina fan who slid into the DMs of the Panthers official Twitter account pulled off the latter feat.
“I know this a long shot and this will be the only time I ask but how many rts for tickets to the panthers game next Sunday,” the fan wrote.
“5k retweets,” the team replied.
A day later, @davidcat24 had everything he needed.
Carolina was sure to discourage more fans from flooding the DMs looking for a similar deal.
Now the Panthers need to give the fans a show
That lucky fan now gets to head to Bank of America Stadium to watch Carolina take on the New York Jets.
The home side are five-point favorites, so hopefully, they give him something to enjoy. There wasn’t enough of that in 2020 as they went 5-11 and finished third in the NFC South in Matt Rhule’s first year at the helm.
This year, fans will get to see Sam Darnold take over at quarterback following a trade from these very Jets. They’ll also get to enjoy a healthy Christian McCaffrey after he missed much of the 2020 campaign with injuries.
On the opposing sideline, they’ll also get a glimpse of No. 2 draft pick Zach Wilson.
The worrying thing? They haven’t won a season opener since 2018. Now would be a good time to turn that streak around, especially going against a woeful Jets team.
