The Baltimore Ravens are down another running back after Justice Hill tore his Achilles at practice. They’re now working out Le’Veon Bell and others.
The Ravens were already hurting at running back after JK Dobbins suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason.
Now they’ve lost another rusher for the season.
“Source: #Ravens RB Justice Hill tore his Achilles at practice recently. He’s out for the season. That’s why they are working out backs,” Ian Rapoport tweeted.
Hill, who has rushed for 285 yards and two touchdowns in two years with the team, went down during practice last Thursday. He was set to backup Gus Edwards this season.
Ravens work out Le’Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman and Elijah Holyfield
Baltimore brought in a bunch of veteran running backs to work out on Monday, including Le’Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman and Elijah Holyfield.
Bell is obviously the highest-profile of those options for the Ravens. He had 328 yards and two touchdowns with the Chiefs during their run to the Super Bowl last season. However, his relationship with the team soured and he swore to never play for Andy Reid again. Needless to say, he’s been a free agent ever since.
Freeman started four games for the Giants in 2020. He was released by the Saints in their 53-man roster cuts.
Holyfield, the son of boxer Evander Holyfield, was an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in 2019. He spent the 2020 season on the Eagles practice squad and didn’t make the 53-man roster for this season.
Baltimore now has just two healthy running backs on their roster, so expect them to sign someone to fill a role. It’s just a question of which way they’ll go.
