The Dallas Cowboys lost a heartbreaker in their Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What’s next for Dallas?
The Cowboys went toe-to-toe with the reigning Super Bowl champs in Week 1’s opener. After falling just short, losing 31-29, it’s clear that they’ll be much improved this season with their star quarterback under center again.
Dak Prescott returned to action, completing 42-of-58 passes for 403 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. He looked all the part of a franchise quarterback.
With a hardly fought matchup under their belt, the Cowboys face a must-win in Week 2.
For this cowboys team as a whole, they face a must-win game in their Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, which figures to be a shootout between Prescott and budding star Justin Herbert.
Even in a relatively week NFC East, falling into an 0-2 hole wouldn’t be ideal. The Cowboys proved Thursday night that they are no pushover, and should give the Chargers plenty of headaches.
Dallas’s new and improved defense — featuring new linebackers Micah Parsons and Keanu Neal — looked lightyears ahead of where they were last year. Although they gave up 31 points and 379 yards to Tom Brady, they kept the team competitive all night.
The Cowboys’ stud receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb showed up big time, combining for 243 yards and three touchdowns. This bodes well for the rest of the season as their offense should keep up with any other offense in the league.
However, with all of this said, the Cowboys face a lot of expectations. They have a lot of pieces, and nearly put them together in Week 1 and took down the reigning champs.
Their Week 2 matchup against the Chargers is a lot less daunting, which makes it a must win for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations in 2021.
