The Dallas Cowboys got screwed by a no-call at the end of the season opener against the Bucs as the refs missed clear offensive pass interference.
Cowboys fans should be irate after their loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday night.
For once, they don’t have reason to rage over Mike McCarthy or their defense. Instead, the real culprits on the night were the referees.
The referees robbed the Cowboys with a missed OPI
A missed called in the final seconds absolutely robbed Dallas:
A closer look at the play makes it pretty clear Godwin pushed off to create separation. He should have been flagged for offensive pass interference, but none was coming from the side judge.
If the penalty had been called, Tom Brady and the Bucs would have been moved out of field goal range.
Instead, Tampa Bay set up the game-winning kick and came away with the win, moving to 1-0.
For the Cowboys, it’s a brutal loss from an emotional standpoint, but there’s plenty to come away with. After dislocating and fracturing his ankle in Week 5 of last season, quarterback Dak Prescott was brilliant, throwing for more than 400 yards while finding Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb repeatedly. If Prescott plays like that each game this season, Dallas should have no problem winning the weak NFC East.
Next week, the Cowboys stay on the road and take on the Los Angeles Chargers. Meanwhile, the Chargers are in Washington D.C. this weekend, facing the Football Team.
