Without debate, the New York Jets must trade for Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold.
Leave it up to the New York Jets to make another GOB Bluth-level huge mistake by trading away Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers and then drafting Zach Wilson No. 2 overall out of BYU.
Done seeing ghosts, probably because he is working with Joe Brady now and not Adam Gase, Darnold is making the Jets have big regrets before the leaves start to fall. The last time a BYU quarterback was worth a damn was Steve Young, and Wilson ain’t it in his first start for Gang Green. Darnold and the Panthers are throttling New York in their Week 1 matchup on Sunday.
If the Jets had any sense, they would orchestrate a trade with the Panthers to go get Darnold.
New York Jets are getting waxed by Sam Darnold in his Carolina Panthers debut
While Wilson is looking every bit like a Jets quarterback by completing 6-of-16 passes for 84 yards and a pick in the first half, Darnold looks like he did carrying the USC Trojans years ago. He completed 17-of-25 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Darnold also took it in himself for six to make the Jets look like the worst run football team in the NFL yet again in 2021.
There are organizations who learn from their mistakes, and then there’s the Jets. Other craptastic teams like the Atlanta Falcons, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans have a better idea of what to do most weeks than do the Jets. If there was ever a time to go pick another NFL team to root for, you have a mulligan this week. The Jets will not take flight, as they will stay grounded.
If you want to give up the farm for Darnold, why not because nothing else ever works for y’all.
