The Minnesota Vikings revealed details regarding the injuries Everson Griffin suffered in a car accident he was in on his way to practice this week.
Everson Griffin will not play on Sunday, but thankfully the news isn’t any worse than that.
Many were surprised when his name showed up on Thursday’s injury report, but the team waited until the day after to dive into the reason why.
On Friday, the Vikings revealed details of a car accident Griffin was involved in on his way to practice this week. The news was jarring for fans to hear, and while the details were terrifying, the end result wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been.
“Everson Griffen was involved in a car accident on his way into the practice facility on Thursday. Mike Zimmer said the DE swerved to miss a deer in the road,” Vikings beat writer Courtney Cronin tweeted on Friday. “It’s why he showed up on the injury report with a concussion.”
Griffen, who spent his first 10 seasons with the Vikings, is back with the team on a one-year deal. Last season was the only year of his professional career that he didn’t play with the Vikings. Instead, he spent seven games with the Dallas Cowboys and seven with the Detroit Lions.
The four-time Pro-Bowler expressed how happy he was to return home to the Minnesota Vikings during training camp.
For now, the team will focus on Griffen’s health after this scary accident. As stated, he will miss this week and continue to monitored until it is safe for him to return to action.
