The Detroit Lions are reportedly exploring trading veteran linebacker Jamie Collins and the Cowboys need to get on the horn immediately.
Defensively, things sure have been inconsistent for the Dallas Cowboys thus far in 2021. Matter of fact, their depth at certain spots has to be a concern for head coach Mike McCarthy, especially at linebacker. So, how about a veteran prospect to add to the mix?
That’s exactly what could happen if Dallas were to go out and trade for Jamie Collins. Per Ian Rapoport, the Lions are looking to potentially send Collins to a new team. A trade sure does make sense for the Cowboys.
A trade for Jamie Collins would be ideal for the Dallas Cowboys
The ‘backer is in his ninth season in the NFL. After a strong start to his career with the Patriots, Collins has also suited up for the Browns and Lions. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 255-pounder appeared in 14 games, starting each one.
He recorded a head-turning 101 tackles, while adding one sack. He’s posted 10 tackles in two games this year for the Lions, but it’s looking like his time in Detroit could be coming to a close here in the near future.
Per Rapoport, multiple teams have reached out to Detroit about a deal for Collins. This makes sense, as he’s no doubt got the ability to be a key contributor for someone out there. With Detroit 0-2 thus far this season, it could be wise to try and get a decent return for Collins while they can.
If the Cowboys indeed are serious about bringing Collins over to the NFC East, they better get on the horn sooner than later and put together a package that will turn Detroit’s head. Dallas fans sure would be pumped to see Collins in Arlington.
