The Philadelphia Eagles were humbled by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Heads should roll on defense after that performance.
It’s pretty clear Nick Sirianni and the Eagles have their work cut out for them in bringing the franchise back to championship glory.
After Monday night’s defeat at the hands of the Cowboys, avoiding another blowout is a far more pressing concern than dreaming about future trophies.
It’ll take some tough decisions to show they’re serious about winning in 2021.
3 Eagles who should be benched after losing to the Cowboys
Derek Barnett
During the second quarter, when the game was still a one-score affair, Derek Barnett got hit with an offsides penalty.
Sirianni was captured by cameras clearly saying, “It’s always him.”
That’s a damning moment for the defensive lineman.
Barnett recovered a key fumble in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory, but it’s been a long time since that moment and he hasn’t done enough to justify a place in the lineup. Last week he had a late hit that cost his team. He’s done that more times than can be counted over the last few years too.
If he was being super productive it might be different. He doesn’t have a sack through three games.
It’s time for Philadelphia to move on and give someone else a chance.
