Peyton Manning champions Dak Prescott as MVP candidate

Peyton Manning thinks Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott should be in early MVP conversations.

Last night on Monday Night Football, Dak Prescott played his first home game for the Dallas Cowboys since his catastrophic ankle injury last season.

After an emotional pregame, Prescott looked as impressive as he has all season. He completed 21-of-26 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns as the Cowboys skated to a 41-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

His early season performances have the attention of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, who called the game on ESPN2 during the Manning Megacast. Manning believed that although it is early in the season, any conversations being had about an MVP award should involve Dak Prescott.

Dak Prescott is off to a hot start

Dak Prescott has been among the best quarterbacks throughout the first three weeks of the season. He quickly alleviated any worry that he wouldn’t play as well as he did pre injury. He currently is 10th in the league in passing yards with 878, 10th in passing touchdowns with six and first in completion percentage at 77.5%. All while leading the 2-1 Cowboys to an average of 30 points a game.

While the MVP race will be tough and continue to heat up as the season goes on, Prescott will certainly be a candidate if he continues to play like he has. He is also setting up to be a lock for Comeback Player of the Year. For him to sustain an injury like he did and immediately return as effective, he will have the opportunity to bring home numerous awards.
