The Tennessee Titans might be without their two best wide receivers against the New York Jets on Sunday.
There may be some devastating news for Titans fans on the horizon. Both Julio Jones and A.J. Brown are battling injuries and are potentially out against the New York Jets in Week 4. While nothing has been confirmed, the absence of both wide receivers could leave a gaping hole in Tennessee’s offense.
The Titans are currently on top of the AFC South with a 2-1 record. A sizeable win against the 0-3 Jets, who are ranked last in the league, would help them ensure their spot on top of the division.
According to Ian Rapoport on Twitter, Tennessee might have to work towards their third win without their star receiving duo:
Receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown could both be absent for Tennessee Titans in Week 4’s contest against the Jets
On the bright side, Week 4 could be running back Derrick Henry’s biggest game of the season as he will be relied on to carry the offense in the event that both receivers are out. With Chester Rogers, Josh Reynolds, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine lined up behind Jones and Brown on the Titans’ depth chart, Henry should expect to get lots of opportunities to carry the ball and add to his stat lines.
Hopefully neither receiver needs more than a week to recover. If they do, at least they’ll face another weak opponent in the winless Jacksonville Jaguars. No time is a good time to miss your best receivers, but consecutive weeks against two of the worst teams in the league certainly isn’t the worst time for Tennessee.
