Brian Flores’ team looks to snap a brief losing streak when the Miami Dolphins take on the winless Colts at South Florida.
Following a Week 1 victory at Foxborough, the Miami Dolphins were humbled at home by the Bills, 35-0. Last Sunday, Brian Flores’ team owned a 12-point first-quarter lead at Las Vegas – only to fall in overtime, 31-28.
This Sunday, the 1-2 Dolphins host the 0-3 Indianapolis Colts. The latter was a playoff team a year ago with an 11-5 record. But Frank Reich’s squad has yet to play a complete football game.
Flores’ team has been a bit of a disappointment as well. And this week, former Colts’ quarterback Jacoby Brissett takes on his former employer.
5. WR Jaylen Waddle has his first 100-yard receiving game
He was the sixth overall selection in April’s draft and was expected to add a charge to a Miami passing game that ranked 20th in the league a season ago. But the coming-out party for former University of Alabama wideout Jaylen Waddle is still on hold.
“The speedster is the most explosive run-after-the-catch playmaker in the class,” said NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks this spring. “Waddle adds a dimension to the offense with his ability to score from anywhere on the field as a deep-ball specialist or catch-and-run scorer.
Perhaps this is the week he breaks out. The good news is that Waddle has been targeted 26 times and he’s hauled in 22 passes. The bad news is that those grabs have added up to a not-so-grand total of 167 yards and one score.
