Quarterback play in the NFL in Week 4 wasn’t always stellar. The Steelers, Texans and Dolphins need to reevaluate their depth chart at that key position.
Quarterback is the most important position on a football field. Teams that don’t have a good one running the show know that better than anyone.
It’s just that much harder to win when the guy with the ball in his hand for most of a game can’t get the job done.
These are the guys in Week 4 who fit that description.
3 NFL quarterbacks who should be benched after Week 4
Ben Roethlisberger
A few years ago, a matchup between the Steelers and Packers would have been heralded as a battle between two of the best quarterbacks in the game. Now, it’s just Aaron Rodgers and the Packers beating up on a very over-the-hill Ben Roethlisberger.
Big Ben hasn’t been drinking the elixir of youth that’s kept Tom Brady going at a high level into his 40s. He looks increasingly unfit to lead the Steelers’ offense.
His arm has let him down, limiting the explosiveness in Pittsburgh. When those deep shots were available against the Packers, he flat out missed his receivers.
Are Dwayne Haskins or Mason Rudolph considerably better options than Roethlisberger? Maybe not, but it’s time to give them a chance to prove themselves. Roethlisberger certainly hasn’t done it this season.
