The Week 5 edition of Thursday Night Football between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams has not been too kind to the fingers of Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford.
The Seattle Seahawks planned on upsetting the Los Angeles Rams, who were coming off their first loss of the season. The Rams are no easy team, meaning the Seahawks needed quarterback Russell Wilson to be 100-percent.
In the third quarter, Wilson attempted a pass to wide receiver Tyler Lockett on second-and-14. During the follow through of his pass, Wilson’s fingers made contact with the hand of Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, and it looked as though his right middle finger became dislocated.

Wilson emerged with his right middle finger wrapped up. While he did play in the following drive, backup Geno Smith entered the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Wilson was designated as questionable to return, but ultimately remained on the sidelines for the remainder of the game.
Rams QB Matthew Stafford also dealt with finger injury on Thursday night
Wilson was not the only quarterback dealing with a finger injury at Lumen Field on Thursday night. In the second quarter, Rams signal caller Matthew Stafford injured his right index finger but did not miss any time. Like Wilson, Stafford had his finger wrapped up.
With Wilson on the sideline, Smith took over and led the team on a 10-play, 98-yard touchdown drive. Smith hit wide receiver D.K. Metcalf in the end zone for a 23-yard score, cutting their deficit to Los Angeles to 16-14.
Smith set the Seahawks up for a field goal to cut their deficit to 23-17 on their following drive, but threw an interception late in the fourth quarter to officially end things. The Rams are now 4-1 on the season following the 26-17 victory.
With Week 5 in the books for Seattle, Seahawks fans will undoubtedly be waiting intently for an update on Wilson’s injury.
