After Bashaud Breeland posted a controversial tweet, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had to issue a comment on the matter.
Minnesota Vikings fans likely aren’t happy with how Bashaud Breeland has performed lately and it seems unlikely that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is having to comment on Breeland’s social media activity.
On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings were able to get their second win of the season in the form of a 19-17 victory over the Detroit Lions. During that low scoring affair, Breeland compiled a total of five combined tackles, but that’s about all he contributed during that game.
After the Vikings win over the Lions, Breeland tweeted the following, which has since been deleted:
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer comments on Bashaud Breeland’s now-deleted tweet
Unsurprisingly, Breeland’s head coach was asked to comment on the matter. According to Matthew Coller of Purple Insider, Zimmer said the following on the matter:
Interestingly enough, as Coller points out, Zimmer does seem to partially defend his player on the matter. According to Coller, Zimmer stated that Breeland’s now-deleted tweet wasn’t directed at Vikings fans. But, if it wasn’t intended to be targeting fans, it’s not exactly clear who the tweet was in reference to.
This season has gotten off to a rough start for the Minnesota Vikings and tempers are being tested. Of course, that doesn’t really excuse this tweet from Breeland. It remains to be seen if this will develop into something bigger than just an awkward moment that Zimmer and Breeland have to deal with.
