Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has come out and discussed the new soap opera between him and Odell Beckham Jr.
Thanks to the father of Odell Beckham Jr., there’s plenty of distractions for the Cleveland Browns as a whole right now leading up to Sunday’s tilt with the Cincinnati Bengals. Not only did it come from out of nowhere, but it was completely unneeded.
To add to the story, Beckham was excused from practice on Wednesday and now it’s up in the air when he’ll return to the practice field. There’s even rumors going around that the team might end up releasing him as well. If you ask Mayfield about all of this, he really can’t believe it happened.
Baker Mayfield admits he was surprised over this new drama with Odell Beckham Jr.
While meeting with the press, Mayfield openly said that he’d be open to having a conversation with Beckham to hash things out. Mayfield also said he’s not hurt by what was posted by Beckham’s dad on Instagram, which showcased all the throws Mayfield has missed while trying to connect with the speedster this season.
As soon as the video made its way to social media, folks lost their minds. Even LeBron James came out and commented on things, seemingly pushing for Beckham to be traded. The deadline came and passed, though, and he wasn’t traded.
Now, there’s still a chance the Browns could release Beckham if things don’t improve. Again, all of this drama has really come out of nowhere and it’s taking away from the team’s focus from another big AFC North contest. Cleveland is 4-4 on the year and in last place of the division standings entering the Week 9 tilt with Cincinnati.
